		Brighton Gets Its Own Brits (Aug 10) 2010 sees Brighton getting its first Brighton Music Awards, celebrating the best of the City’s emerging talent. The awards was set up by songwriter and producer David Courtney (Roger Daltrey, Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, Leo Sayer)and music producer Paul Mex (George Michael) and is a ‘not for profit’ initiative. Qualifying artists must reside in the BN postcode area and you can nominate directly online at their website by clicking on the link below.

		BIMM raise money for charity (June 10) BIMM Brighton has donated £4000 - all the money raised from this year’s BIMM gigs - to a variety of charities. This included local charity The Argus Appeal, Nordoff Robbins, a music therapy charity and the Unicef Haiti Children’s Appeal. BIMM vocal tutor, Kelle Bryan of Eternal presented a charity cheque to the Editor, Michael Beard of The Argus Appeal at one of our End of Term gigs. BIMM musician Francesca Young attended the Silver Clef Music Awards in London and performed at the prestigious Nordoff Robbins event during the champagne reception. 		BIMM Summer Schools - Booking Now for August ! (August 10) BIMM’s Total Guitar Summer School and Metal Hammer Summer Schools are now booking for August 2010. The summer schools are available for guitar, bass, vocals, keyboards and drums. The summer schools will give you the opportunity to train with top UK industry professionals. 		BIMM Drummers play with 30 Seconds To Mars at Download Festival (June 10) Six BIMM musicians were invited to perform as a troop of marching snare drummers with Kerrang favourites ’30 Seconds To Mars’ headlining the second stage at the 1000,000 capacity Download Festival at Donnington on Saturday 13th June. The drummers joined Jared Leto’s (Hollywood actor turned rock star) band for two tracks ’This Is War’ and ’Kings & Queens’ after a personal invite from the band’s drummer Shannon Leto. The BIMM students and 30 Seconds To Mars were watched from the side of stage by rock royalty, American metallers the Deftones. 		BIMM Brighton charity donations presented by Kelle Bryan (June 10) BIMM recently presented the Brighton Argus with a donation for £1000.00 for their local charity The Argus Appeal. The charity’s objectives are to relieve sickness, poverty, hardship and to provide benefits for the elderly in need as well as underprivileged children in the Sussex area. BIMM has also raised £2000.00 for Nordoff Robbins, a music therapy charity and £1000.00 for the Haiti Children’s Earthquake appeal. The money was raised by tickets sold at all End of Term and Live and Lyrical gigs this year! 		BIMM Open Days booking now for September 2010! BIMM have confirmed the new open days for 2010. BIMM Brighton open day will take place on Wednesday the 1st of September at 12pm and Bristol on Saturday 11th September at 12pm. Come along and talk to BIMM staff, tutors and students and be part of presentations and workshops held in our fantastic facilities. Please call admissions on 0844 2 646 666 to book your space now! 		The Great Escape - BIMM album launch - Friday 14th May (May 10) To celebrate the release of the new BIMM album What’s Inside Your Head? Vol. 3, BIMM are holding an album launch at this year’s Great Escape Festival on Friday the 14th of May at the Pavillion Tavern. The event which is part of the Alternative Great Escape will feature 6 live acts performing their tracks from the album. Doors open at 8.15pm. All proceeds from the album will go to the Nordoff Robbins Charity. The album features BIMM musicians from both Brighton and Bristol Institute of Modern Music.

		BIMM guitarist Joe Corbin playing in band signed to Kiefer Sutherland’s label - Ironworks (April 10) BIMM Brighton musician Joe Corbin has successfully auditioned to play in up-and-coming artist ’Jim Stapley’s’ band. Jim is signed to Hollywood actor Kiefer Sutherland’s label Ironworks - part of Universal Music. Joe recently played a gig at the Barfly in Camden and Kiefer Sutherland came to say hello to the band after the show! Joe is also currently touring with his own band ’Jackdaw’. 		BIMM Graduate Ben Poole win’s Total Guitar’s - Guitar Wars Final! (Feb 10) BIMM graduate Ben Poole has won Total Guitar’s - Guitar Wars final which took place at Mr Wolf’s in Bristol as part of BIMM’s Night of Guitars. The competition was judged by Total Guitar’s editor Steve Lawson and Ozzy Osbourne’s new guitarist Gus G. Ben has won a slot for his band at this year’s Download Festival 2010 and is also featured in this month’s Total Guitar Magazine! Guitar Gods Guthrie Govan and Adrian Legg performed on the night. 		BIMM musicians join Mercury Records Tiffany Page’s band - on tour with Hole! (April 10) Congratulations to Dave Delgado and Dan Grace who successfully auditioned at BIMM and are now playing in Tiffany Page’s band who is an up-and-coming artist signed to Mercury Records (Universal). Tiffany is a priority artist for the label this year and the band have just shot the video for their new single in the Los Angeles desert as well as having just completed a tour with the Noisettes.
